Name: Jake Robinson

Age: 18 years old

Programme: Further Education Level 2 Carpentry

Pathway: Construction

After not performing very well in School, Jake Robinson was determined not to repeat the same mistake again. Having realised that he needed qualifications he met with a careers advisor who suggested that he tried a more practical way of learning.

After enrolling at a local college Jake studied a broad course in Construction, Bricklaying and Carpentry before continuing onto Prospects College to study for his Level 1 Diploma in Construction. After being impressed with the facilities that Prospects had to offer Jake then transferred from his college to Prospects so as to allow him to start a Further Education Level 2 Programme in Carpentry.

Jake's response to his time at Prospects College has been really positive. Jake even stated "It's really enjoyable, I like being treated as an adult and the skills the course is giving me will mean I can progress onto an apprenticeship." The apprenticeship in question was secured by Prospects College and Jake, working together with a local family business "Sabre Carpentry" who have offered to take him on - adding to their already impressive staff base.

Now that Jake is coming up to the end of his course he feels that the experience has been extremely positive and his tutors agree with him are shocked at how far he has come. Danny Guyon, Jake's carpentry tutor stated how much of an improvement he has seen and how hard working and motivated Jake now is. From here Jake will now go on to take up his apprenticeship at Sabre Carpentry.
